Massachusetts Art Educators Association - Statewide K-12 Student Exhbition

Congratulations to the following students who had work selected for the exhibition:

Students, grades K through 12, from across Massachusetts have been selected to have their artwork displayed at the State Transportation Building,10 Park Plaza, Boston, MA as part of the 2019 Statewide Youth Art Month Exhibit.  

The Boston exhibit is the only statewide K-12 exhibit in Massachusetts with work from private and public schools.

The show will be on display and open to the public weekdays 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. from February 11 through March 27, 2019.

The exhibit is closed weekends and Presidents Day, Monday, Feb. 18, 2019). Admission is free. Parking is available in the building for a fee.
This exhibit, sponsored by the Massachusetts Art Education Association (MAEA), is part of Youth Art Month (YAM), a national celebration endorsed by the Council for Art Education and the National Art Education Association (NAEA). This yearly celebration is held during March and emphasizes the value of art education for all children and encourages support for quality art programs in schools. This year’s Youth Art Month theme is Your Art, Your Story.

Bell Organic Garden Celebration

2018 Bell Organic Garden Celebration!

Bell art students created Japanese Carp Windsocks to celebrate the 1st annual Bell Organic Garden fundraiser celebration.

“Koinobori, meaning "carp streamer" in Japanese, are carp-shaped windsocks traditionally flown in Japan to celebrate a traditional calendar event which is now designated a national holiday; Children’s Day.

Children's Day takes place on May 5, landscapes across Japan are decorated with koinobori from April to early May, in honor of children for a good future and in the hope that they will grow up healthy and strong.”

Stormy Day in New England - Winter Musical Preparations

One of my favorite times of year is our annual Bell Winer Musical. I found our unexpected January Blizzard gave me some time to catch up on our paperwork musical prep.

Students from the Bell School 2nd and 3rd grade performed Dino-Sauring! to a full house of families and friends. The kids did an amazing job singing, dancing and creating original art for the production.

Lauren a senior at Marblehead High School, a member of the National Art Honor Society and (my oldest daughter) spends the day helping create mural sized reproductions of Bell School art student dinosaur designs for our up coming 2014 Winter Musical.

Bell Art Students - National Grand Bank K-12 Winter Art Show

The following students from Mrs. Nohelty's art classroom have been selected to be exhibited at the bi-annual Marblehead Public School Art Exhibition at the National Grand Bank on Pleasant Street in Marblehead. The work showcases student work from K-12 art students in the MPS. Work selected will be on display from November 2013 until March 2014.

LAMP Newsletter - Bell Visual Arts Fall 2013

Visual Arts In Review- By Mrs. Nohelty

Throughout the course of the school year, every class from Kindergarten to Third grade meets once a week for 45 minutes in the art classroom. Bell Students will have art for approximately 12 art classes each grading period.

The program is designed to provide an enriching Fine Art experience for every student regardless of their skill-level, talent, or aptitude. All students have the opportunity to create and participate in an individualized yet cooperative artistic environment. 

In the Bell Elementary art program we focus on creativity and expression of individual artistic accomplishment. The students, regardless of age, are encouraged to engage in the visual arts while working within the structure and expectations of the Marblehead Public School Fine Arts Curriculum, and the Massachusetts State Visual Arts Educational Frameworks. Art lessons within the Bell School program are developed with a strong emphasis age appropriate artistic skills while integrating the theories of Elements and Principals around Art and Design.  Students are graded according to their willingness to participate, age appropriate visual art skill sets and classroom behavior.

 

Back to School 2013-2014 - Malcolm Bell Art Room!

We have been very busy in the art room the last 4 weeks. Its amazing how quickly the time goes by. It seems even faster since I am scheduled with my art students only once a week for 45 minutes. Not nearly enough time as far as I'm concerned. But even in those short 45 minutes we are able to learn about and create some beautiful visual art.

The second graders have been working on warm/cool watercolor painting using Fall leaves as inspiration. Here are a few of the 2nd graders beginning their leaf paintings.

Thanks to my daughter Lauren for spending this beautiful beach day hanging artwork

for the Bell School Fine Arts Night with her mom rather than going to the beach. We are almost ready to go. The kids work looks great. As soon as school is out I owe her a lobster roll and day at Good Harbor Beach!
